If it's rejected: a free new photo or your money back

Your download page has a “Make a free new photo” button that works for 90 days after your order, as many times as you reasonably need. Or ask for your money back:

If the US Department of State, a US embassy or consulate, or USCIS rejects your photo or asks for a new one, email support@proudlook.com (or reply to your order email) within 90 days of your order with the notice. A screenshot or photo of the letter is enough. We refund the full $8.99 to your card within 2 business days.

If we can't make your files because of a problem on our side, we refund you without you asking.

Questions

Do you edit or retouch my photo?

No, never. We only crop it to the 2×2 inch size, straighten it a few degrees if the camera was tilted, and save it as a JPEG. No AI, no retouching, no filters, no skin smoothing, no background replacement and no brightness or color changes. The State Department asks for the original, unedited photo and can reject edited ones.

Is this the same as your AI headshots?

No. Our AI headshots create new portraits and must never be used on a passport. This tool is separate: it uses your real photo exactly as taken.

What if my photo is rejected?

You choose: make a new photo free from your download page (up to 90 days after your order), or reply to your order email with the rejection notice within 90 days and we refund you in full. We can't promise acceptance: a government officer makes the final decision. Refund policy

Can I use it to renew my passport online?

Yes. The digital file is a square JPEG between 600×600 and 1200×1200 pixels and under 240 kB, sized to the official head and eye position. It also works for the DS-160 visa form.

How do I print the photos?

Order a regular 4×6 print of the print sheet at Walgreens, CVS, Walmart or any photo printer (usually under $0.50). Print at actual size with no cropping, then cut along the marks: you get two 2×2 inch photos.

My wall isn't white. Can you change the background?

No: replacing the background is an edit, and edited photos can be rejected. Stand in front of a plain white or off-white wall or door. A white sheet hung flat also works.

Other apps whiten the background. Why don't you?

Because the State Department asks for the original, unedited photo, and replacing the background with AI is an edit. Most photo apps do it anyway. We'd rather tell you how to get a plain wall at home (a white door, wall or a flat white sheet) and check it for you.

Does it work for a baby's passport photo?

Yes. Tick “It's for a baby under 1”. Lay the baby on a plain white sheet and take the photo from straight above, with no hands, toys or pacifier showing. For babies the State Department accepts eyes that aren't fully open.

Isn't there a free State Department photo tool?

Yes, and it's fine if you're sure your photo meets every rule: it crops to 600×600 pixels. It doesn't check the photo, guide the camera or make a print sheet, and there's no refund if it's rejected.

What happens to my photo?

It's private. The photo you upload is deleted within 24 hours (as soon as your files are made), and the finished files 7 days after your order. We never use it for AI training.
